The Ancient Mysteries of Egypt Tour, Oct. 17-26, 2023

Explore the ancient mysteries of Egypt with Tour Director Larry Pahl, October 17-26, 2023. See the cost and details of this trip below. We focus our tour on the ancient mysteries and secrets of the ancient world, but we also observe the existing Egyptian culture, and interact in it with respect. 

  • The cost of this tour per person, double occupancy, is $3000. There will be an extra charge for single occupancy of $900. This price includes almost everything except airfare and optional excursions. The price includes housing, most meals, all transportation including airport pickup and drop off, the domestic flights, guidance from Larry and Egyptologists, entrance fees to monuments and museums, and most tips.

  • Some of the optional excursions include:

    • Private 2-hour entrance into the Great Pyramid, where the public does not have access ($300)

    • Luxor Hot Air Balloon Ride ($100)

    • Abu Simbel ($100)

    • Abydos ($100)

    • Dendera ($100)

    • ATV trip in the desert to the Lost Pyramids of the 5th Dynasty with Larry ($80)

October 17-26, 2023 Ancient Mysteries of Egypt Tour:

Enjoy the unforgettable magic and mystery of ancient Egypt! AIP Director Larry Pahl and an experienced Egyptologist will guide you through this pyramid building civilization, unique in world history. Below you will find the itinerary for the tour, and relevant information. Feel free to make inquiries to AIP about any aspect of the tour! Here is an info list you may find helpful... While we will always keep the core of this tour, we reserve the right to make changes based on new archaeological finds, guest preferences, and other pertinent considerations.

Itinerary:

  • Day 1, October 17, Tues.
    Arrival. Plan to fly into Cairo on October 17, (unless you want to make arrangements to arrive earlier.) We will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel. We will have an evening welcome get-together.

  • Day 2, October 18, Wed.
    Sakkara: The Step Pyramid of Djoser, the light mystery of the Pyramid of Unas, the mysterious Serapeum, and Dahshur: The Red and the Bent Pyramid. In the evening will be an optional meal at the historic and lovely Mena House Hotel.

  • Day 3, October 19, Thurs.
    The Pyramids of Giza, including the Great Pyramid. Lunch at the 9 Pyramids Lounge overlooking the entire Giza Plateau. After lunch we will travel to the new Grand Egyptian Museum, billed as being the largest museum in the world dedicated to one civilization. We may do the National Civilization Museum if the GEM is not yet operational. This is the day we will have as an optional excursion a two hour private entrance into the Great Pyramid. Larry may also offer an ATV excursion into the desert to the Lost Pyramids of the 5th Dynasty.

  • Day 4, October 20, Fri.
    ​Fly to Aswan. Visit the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Isis Temple. We will board our cruise ship for lunch. 

  • Day 5, October 21, Sat.
    Excursion to Abu Simbel. In the evening a visit to the Nubian Village.

  • Day 6, October 22, Sun.
    Sail to Edfu and Kom Ombo.

  • Day 7, October 23, Mon.
    Luxor Hot Air Balloon excursion. Abydos and Dendera excursions. East bank of Luxor: Karnak and Luxor Temples

  • Day 8, October 24, Tues.
    Luxor: Valley of the KingsHatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Fly back to Cairo.

  • Day 9, October 25, Wed.
    Visit Old Cairo sites.  Shop in Khan el Khalili. Evening good bye social.

  • Day 10, October 26, Thurs.
    ​Drop off at the airport.

TOUR COSTS

  • Double Occupancy: $3000/person  

  • The above cost includes:

    • Breakfast and lunch each day (including the 9 Pyramids Lounge lunch at Giza)

    • Full board, 3 meals/day, on the Nile Cruise.

    • All entrance fees to the monuments, pyramids and temples on the tour. 

    • Camel ride inside the Giza Pyramid area. 

    • Old Coptic Cairo, the famous Khan al-Khalili market and other points of interest in ancient Cairo.

    • Cruise to Philae, Kom Ombo, the Temple of Horus, the Valley of the Kings and the tomb of Queen Hatshepsut.

    • Air fares within Egypt (Luxor/Aswan)

    • Several lectures by AIP Director Larry Pahl, and personalized excursions can be arranged.

    • Bottled water provided by hotel and tour company

    • Transportation to and from airport

    • Air-conditioned, comfortable transportation to all sites

  • Costs excluded:

    • Flights to and from Cairo

    • $25 Visa fee to enter Egypt

    • Travel and health insurance, if desired

    • Excursions

    • Evening meals at the hotel (these are included on the cruise ship)


FLIGHT INFORMATION

  • Tour participants are responsible for booking their own flights to and from Cairo. We provide connecting transportation.  


TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

  • Payment in full (minus excursions, tips, etc.) for this trip is due by Sept. 1.  The initial $1000 deposit (minus service fee) is refundable until Sept. 1.  5% discount for paying the tour in full by check or money order.

CANCELLATION POLICY 

  • We realize circumstances might require the need for cancellation.  Deposit will be returned minus the service fee. Because of non-refundable expenses in making the arrangements for this trip, cancellations are subject to the surrender of the trip deposit after Sept. 1.  


HEALTH INSURANCE 

  • Vaccinations are not necessary to travel to Egypt. Travelers may want to consult with their doctor about travel to Egypt.

  • We will be outdoors often on the trip, so be prepared with hats, sunscreen, cotton scarfs, sunglasses, etc.

  • Be sure your health insurance policy includes coverage for Egypt.  If not, you can buy an international health insurance coverage.

  • You may also want to purchase travel insurance from a travel agent or insurance agency. These coverages often include trip cancellation, emergency assistance, accidental death, injury coverage, etc.


PASSPORTS, VISA, AND CURRENCY

  • No vaccination record or COVID testing is required to enter Egypt at this time.

  • Be sure your passport is up to date and will not expire while you are in Egypt.

  • The visa you will need for travel in Egypt, can be purchased for $25 at the airport, as part of the customs process once you are in Egypt.  It is good to have $25 cash ready to make this payment.

  • While many places in Egypt take American dollars, it is usually best if you use Egyptian pounds.  You can get fair exchange rates at many places in Egypt, including the airport.  We will also be able to exchange money for you at any time.


WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY 

  • By signing up for the "Ancient Mysteries of Egypt Tour" you agree to our Terms, Deposit Conditions and Waiver. 

  • Our tour company and its agents, and The American Institute for Pyramid Research (AIP) tour facilitators have worked diligently to make all of the arrangements for our journey together in Egypt. However, the tour agency and its agents, and AIP tour facilitators will not be held liable for delays, theft, damage, injury, or any other irregularities that may occur during the course of this trip. We will not be held liable for any changes or delays in airline schedules or missed connections; injury, loss, or damage to persons or property; any transportation issues or problems with vehicles used on the tour; additional expenses incurred due to illness, weather conditions, protests, war, terrorism, quarantine or other causes; and losses due to cancellations not subject to our Terms and Conditions.
