Sakkara

Sakkara is a diverse collection of monuments, pyramids and tombs from a wide swath of dynasties. The Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the fabled vizier Imhotep, which is the centerpiece of Sakkara, really began pyramid building in the world. This is raw ancient Egypt!  At Sakkara we will surely visit the Pyramid of Unas (open until noon almost everyday), where the invisible-then-visible pharaoh appears on the wall above the sarcophagus, and also the fabled Serapeum, housing large, mysterious granite boxes. This will be one of your special days in Egypt!
